Amnesty boss warns against unnecessary protests
Interim Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP), Col. Milland Dikio (rtd.) has warned Niger Delta people, especially ex-agitators against unnecessary protests, which he said, will chase away potential investors from the region on the long run.
Dikio who spoke at the PAP stakeholders’ summit in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, yesterday, said incessant protests should not be a culture to articulate demands in the Niger Delta region.
Speaking on Understanding Presidential Amnesty Programme: Facts and Realities, Dikio noted that after 11 years of the programme, the approach in passing out message was not yielding the desired results, hence the narrative needed to be changed.
He explained that in the course of protesting against the underdevelopment of the region, existing infrastructure could be destroyed, which would make the region to remain in its old state.
